What to Expect During your Neck Lift
There are several surgical techniques that can be utilized for neck lift surgery. Dr. Ku will be able to determine which techniques will be most appropriate for your cosmetic goals. In most cases, your neck lift will be performed under local anesthesia, combined with a sedative to make you drowsy.
Incisions are typically placed under or behind the ear and continue toward the hairline. A small incision may also be placed under your chin. Once the incisions have been made, Dr. Ku will gently separate your skin from the underlying fat and tissue so that the excess can be removed or tightened to improve contour. Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Ku will close the incisions with sutures and wrap them with surgical dressings.
Recovery and Aftercare
You may experience some mild discomfort following surgery which can be lessened with prescription pain medication. Some numbness and swelling may also be present, but should begin to dissipate within a few weeks. Sutures should be removed within a week of surgery and you should be able to resume most normal activities within a few days following surgery. Dr. Ku will provide you with more specific guidelines for gradually resuming more strenuous activities after surgery.
