Brow Lift

Forehead Lift

Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure often performed to diminish signs of aging visible on the face. A brown lift will minimize the creases that run horizontally across the forehead, or correct a low or drooping brow.

Dr. Ku performs brow lift surgery, often in conjunction with other facial cosmetic procedures to create a younger, more harmonious facial appearance.

Brow lift Surgery: Is it right for you?

Ideal candidates for brow lift surgery are typically between the ages of 40 and 60 and wish to minimize substantial signs of aging in their brow and forehead region. Younger adults who feel self-conscious about having a low brow or deep frown lines due to stress or genetics, may also be potential candidates for brow lift surgery.

You may be a good candidate for brow lift surgery if you meet the following criteria:

  • Deep creases that run horizontal across the forehead
  • Low or sagging eyebrows, creating a sad, tired or angry facial expression
  • Good overall physical and mental health
  • Realistic expectations of what brow lift surgery can accomplish

During the pre-operative consultation process, Dr. Ku can answer any questions you may have about brow lift surgery and he will be able to determine if you are an ideal candidate. Factors such as facial bone structure, underlying skin structure and skin elasticity will be considered during your consultation. With Dr. Ku, you can discuss the risks, benefits and expected outcome.

What to Expect During Your Brow Lift

Brow lift surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia, combined with a sedative to make you drowsy. During your consultation with Dr. Ku, he will help you decide which surgical approach to brow lift surgery will best help you achieve your cosmetic goals.

In most cases, a coronal incision, which runs across the top of the scalp, above the ears and within the hairline, will be made to conceal any visible scarring. Once the incision has been made, Dr. Ku will carefully lift the forehead skin so that underlying tissue can be removed and the muscles of the forehead can be altered or released. The scalp incision will then be closed with sutures or clips and the area will be washed.

Recovery and Aftercare

When your brow lift is finished, you may experience some numbness and temporary discomfort around the incision. Dr. Ku will give you specific instructions to follow during recovery. These may include steps to use pain medications and keeping your head elevated for a few days. Most sutures or clips will be moved within two weeks.
